If you're signing into Current RMS with your email and password, what happens if you lose access to your primary email account for whatever reason? Recovery emails save the day!
Why Do I Need a Recovery Email?
A Recovery Email acts as a backup method to regain access to your Current RMS account if you're locked out of your primary email. It can be a useful form of backup if:
Your email account is compromised or hacked
You need a secure way to gain access to recover your account
If you're an Admin User, you can also set up a system-wide recovery email for your entire Current RMS account!
How to Set Up a Recovery Email
The recovery email setting can be turned on individually or account-wide:
Option 1: Account-wide Recovery Email
This is ideal for Administrators who want to enforce recovery emails account-wide for every user. Once this is set up, this email applies to all users who have an account on your Current RMS. To set this up:
Go to System Preferences > Authentication Settings.
Add a system-wide recovery email.
Option 2: Individual User Recovery Email
If you prefer to set a personal Recovery Email to allow users to pick and choose, log in to your Current RMS account and click on your profile icon located at the top right corner of the page. Then, follow these steps:
Choose the 'Edit your profile' option from the drop-down menu.
Locate the recovery email field, then enter your chosen Recovery Email.
Save your changes to finalise the update.
Note: If both a System-wide Recovery Email and an Individual Recovery Email are set, the Individual Recovery Email takes priority.
How to Use Your Recovery Email
If you can't access the current RMS, your recovery email will help you get back in. Follow these steps:
On the Current RMS login page, click Recover My Account.
Enter your login email address and submit.
Check your Recovery Email, you’ll receive an email with a reset link.
Click the link and follow the steps to set up a new login email.
After logging in, a banner will appear at the top of your Current RMS account, reminding you to update your Recovery Email (so it's different from your new login email).
Once you set a new Recovery Email, the banner will disappear, and you're all set!- Please make sure your recovery email is valid, functional, and monitored actively.
You can periodically update the recovery email if access to the current one may be lost.
Test the recovery email to ensure it remains accessible in case of recovery needs.
Note: If you try to use this and you don't receive an email with the link to recover your email, Please check your Spam or Junk inbox.
