Sign in to OnRent Events using Google or Microsoft (SSO)

For convenience and additional security, use Single Sign On (SSO) to sign in to your system using your Google or Microsoft accounts.

Updated this week

As well as signing in with your OnRent Events account, you can sign in using Single Sign On (SSO). Single Sign On is also a viable alternative to OTP (One-Time Password)-based login for enhanced security and convenience.

Additionally, you can troubleshoot common OTP-related issues by using tips such as checking your authenticator app or enabling the 'Remember Me' feature for reduced OTP prompts.

You can also choose to restrict logins to your OnRent Events system to Google or Microsoft accounts, meaning people can only sign in using accounts from those services.

Why use Single Sign On (SSO)?

  • Use the same secure email login across the systems.

  • If you’re already signed in with Google or Microsoft, you’ll be logging in automatically without waiting!

  • The Google or Microsoft account can be managed by the system's administrator easily and set security policies for it, such as enabling 2FA. By leveraging SSO, users can avoid entering OTPs while maintaining robust security protocols.

  • Teams benefit from streamlined, secure access when SSO is enabled.

  • During login, use the 'Remember Me' feature to reduce OTP prompts while maintaining security. This makes subsequent logins faster and more convenient without compromising secure access.

Sign in with Google

Any Google account (personal or business) can be used if its email matches a OnRent Events user.

Authenticate

  1. Click Sign in with Google on your company’s sign-in screen to get started.

  2. Select a Google Account or press Select Use another account to use a different one.

  3. If you are not already signed in, then it will ask for your Password.

Sign in with Microsoft

You can use a Microsoft account linked to Azure Active Directory or Federation Services, but the directory record must have an email address to match a OnRent Events user.

Authenticate

  1. Click Sign in with Microsoft and enter your Microsoft account email address to get started.

Restrict logins to Google or Microsoft accounts

By default, you can sign in to your account using your OnRent Events user account details, a Google account, or a Microsoft account.

⚠️ Make sure you can log in successfully using Google or Microsoft BEFORE changing your authentication method. Choosing a method other than “All” will mean your users will no longer be able to sign in with their OnRent Events account details; they must use an account from the chosen provider with a matching email address. If you do not have a valid Google or Microsoft account with a matching user email address, you can lock yourself and others out of the system. Additionally, OTP remains mandatory as a fallback means of security when SSO is not enabled in your OnRent Events setup.

In case you encounter OTP difficulties, remember to check your authenticator app or enable the 'Remember Me' option during login to simplify access.

If you like, you can restrict logins to your OnRent Events system to Google or Microsoft. Head to System Preferences and use the “Authentication Method” drop-down to do this. To set up SSO, navigate to your account settings and select "Authentication Options." Follow the prompts to connect with Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, then save and test your changes.

Troubleshooting OTP Authentication

If you face issues during OTP (One-Time Password) login, try these steps to resolve them:

  1. Check Your Authenticator App: Open your authenticator app to retrieve the OTP code associated with your OnRent Events account.

  2. Use the 'Remember Me' Feature: This feature allows you to reduce the frequency of OTP prompts by remembering your login credentials for up to three days. By following these steps, you can resolve common OTP-related login issues and ensure seamless access. If you need further assistance, please contact OnRent Events support or explore additional resources available in the application's Help Centre.
