Display cumulative weight per opportunity group

This guide shows you how to view and control how total weight is calculated for each group in an opportunity.

The system allows you to control how your weight should be calculated on your Opportunities. It will factor in which items weight should be used when calculating the weight of an Opportunity.

When to use this

  • You need to plan transport or logistics for an opportunity

  • You want to understand the total weight of grouped items

  • You’re working with containers and need control over how their weight is calculated

Set how container weight is calculated

  1. Go to System Preferences > Opportunities > Weight Calculation

  2. Choose one of the following options:

    • Use container weight only (treat as a single item)

    • Use weight of individual items within container (sum of contents)

  3. Save your changes.

Tips

  • Group weights update dynamically as you edit items or quantities

  • Use container-only weight when containers are pre-packed and handled as single units

  • Use item-level weight when you need a more detailed breakdown of contents

  • Keep item weight data accurate to ensure reliable totals

Additional Information

  • Hover over the group weight to see a breakdown, including:

    • Number of items

    • Container handling method

    • Any items missing weight data

Common issues / troubleshooting

If your group weight appears incorrect check your container weight calculation preference and confirm whether container or item weights are being used.

Items without weight data are excluded. Add weight information to ensure they are counted and included in the calculation.

If you make any changes to the weights remember you will need to Recalculate the Opportunity is order to see those updates take effect.
