Once you’ve created your product, add stock levels to tell Current RMS how many units you have available to rent or sell.

This guide walks through how to add a stock level to your products.

Types of stock level

Here’s a quick re-cap of the two types of stock level you can add to Current RMS:

  • Bulk
For simple stock tracking, choose bulk. You can enter a bulk stock level and Current will keep track of how many you have available. For example, you have 100x HDMI cables.
  • Serialized
For more advanced asset tracking, choose serialized. You can add a list of assets that you rent or sell to the system and Current will keep track of how many you have available. For example, you have 10x ETC Source Four lamps with unique asset numbers.

The stock level you’ll add is determined by the stock method that you chose when setting up the product. Edit the product using the pencil icon to change this.

Get started

To add a new stock level, click add a new stock level under the Stock Levels heading on a product page.

You’ll see the “Create Stock Level” screen.

Stock type

If your product is set up with an allowed stock type of “all,” choose either rental or sale here.

Store

Stores let you specify multiple locations where stock levels are held, for example different warehouses. Opportunities have a store against them, and stock levels from that store can be used on that opportunity.

Select a store from this list to add this stock level to a particular store.

Use store transfer to transfer stock between stores.

Location

Enter a location for your reference – this is generally a shelf number or container. This can show on picking list documents if you like.

Effective date

When should this stock level be available from? For example, if today is March 10th and you set the effective date to March 31st, this stock level won’t show up as available until March 31st onwards.

For serialized stock: asset and serial number

Asset number

Specify a unique asset number for this product. This is required.

  • The asset number is essentially a barcode number, it’s used when generating barcode layouts for this asset.
  • You will scan or enter the asset number on the opportunity detail view to allocate this asset to the opportunity.

Serial number

The manufacturer’s serial number, for your reference.

For bulk stock: opening balance

How many units of the product do you have on hand at the moment? Enter the quantity as the opening balance.

Create

When you’re done, hit the blue Create Stock Level or Create and add another button.
