We've all been there, frantically opening PDFs trying to find the document you're looking for because the file names are giving you nothing! Current makes life easier by letting you choose the file names that your PDFs download as. Whether this helps you find documents in your downloads quicker or allows you to help your customer recognise what you're sending them, it's a bonus for everyone involved.

By default, PDFs download with the number, subject, and ID.
Using our file name feature, you're able to select exactly which information pulls through into the document file name.

Get started

It's super easy to change your file names in Current.

Head to System Setup > Document Layouts and find the document you want to change in the list. To edit the document, click the blue arrow to the right and select Edit.

Switch to the File Name screen to select attributes that you want to include.

Choose fields

It's nice and simple to add relevant fields to your file name:  find the field you need, highlight and click Add. You'll see your chosen fields listed in the box on the right; reorder the fields in the file name using the blue arrows.

You can remove default fields that automatically pull through, just select and click the red cross.

Once you've put the finishing touches to your file name, update the document.

Download

Just pull up your document from your system and hit download as PDF. The file will save wherever you choose sporting the new name that you've customized. When you send this document to your customer, they'll be able to recognize it instantly!

Why are my special characters not showing on the file name?
