Discussion emails sent from Current RMS have the sender set to the user’s name with the text “(Current)” appended. For example:

We do this for a couple of reasons:

Automatically added contacts

Some email apps automatically add contacts for you. This is usually helpful, but means that messages from our discussion servers might be added to your customers’ contact lists.

By adding “(Current)” to the end of the sender name, it makes sure that automatically added email addresses aren’t added to existing contacts with the same name. It makes it much less likely that your customer will email our discussion email servers rather than your email address.

Email security measures

When emails are sent with a familiar contact’s name but have an email address that isn’t expected, some email apps will display a scary warning. For example:

The “(Current)” at the end of our email addresses means this won’t happen.
